1. Ask Other Bloggers to Help — One of the benefits of joining a blog network such as BestAgentBlogs, is that you instantly become a part of a blogger community that understands what you are trying to accomplish… So why not just come out and ask some of us to link to a post that you are proud of? Truthfully, this is a topic that is a constant challenge for the Best Agent Blogger community: How do we promote each other’s blogs without feeling like we pushing new leads toward our competition? We will be exploring “safe” ways for us to do more of this soon.
  2. Enlist Your Social Networks — You should already be signed up with social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. Instead of describing your breakfast, why not leverage the medium to promote your latest post? Don’t constantly spam your followers and friends with links, but ask your network for occasional feedback (comments are best) and let them help you by spreading the word if they like what they see. Ask people for help individually rather than in a blast email. If nobody rises to the challenge, that is useful feedback too.<
  3. Encourage Social Bookmarking — Promote your best posts on sites like Delicious or StumbleUpon. In fact, ask friends and even other social-savvy agents (like members of BestAgentBlogs) to bookmark or “thumbs-up” posts that they like. In fact, there are  little “Share” buttons following every single one of your posts to make this even easier!
  4. Link to Your Own Posts — It’s almost a certainty that most of your posts are related to each other in some way… so link them to each other where relevant. Maybe you’ve written on the topic before and can add a link for further reading, or you could add a link in your sidebar to your best posts. Internal linking won’t necessarily drive lots of new traffic, but if done properly, it can increase how long visitors stay on your site and their likelihood of following your posts or contacting you.
  5. Update Your Email Signature — Adding links to your blog on all your outgoing emails is pretty common. However, if you frequently update links to recent posts instead of just your blog’s front page, you will generate many more clicks.
  6. Write Follow-Ups to Popular Posts — Write a new post on your blog that picks up where your last one left off. Build momentum and drive more page views as visitors discover the wealth of hard-to-find knowledge from a local expert… You!
  7. Add a New Section to Your Newsletter — Many agents put out a regular mailed or email newsletter. If you do, make sure you create a section to promote your latest posts.
  8. Contribute to Other Sites — Leaving helpful and insightful comments on forums, blogs, and news sites can drive lots of traffic if your comment is genuine, relevant to the discussion. Leaving a link may even be appropriate provided it is highly relevant. Even registering on a site will likely create a link from your profile and comments back to “your website”.
  9. Advertise Your Post — When you write a post that is particularly well-received, consider promoting the post in a mini ad campaign using a service like AdWords or StumbleUpon advertising.
  10. Pitch Traditional Media — Occasionally your posts will be relevant to local mainstream media outlets. This doesn’t have to be national or even city press, it could be as targeted as a neighborhood newspaper or a homeowners’ association newsletter. They are always looking for interesting local content!
